Prologue: Red wine. Erin swirled the dark liquid delicately around in her glass before taking another sip. She tilted her head back and stretched her legs out before her on the carpeting, admiring the silence of the moment. No one talking, no one ordering her around, and best of every no one asking her any questions about anything. No more “Erin, are you sure—absolutely certain that you don’t remember anything?” Or “What do you think happened to Richard? Do you know where he is Erin?” “Erin, are you alright?” Even silly everyday questions had arrive to bother her: “How are you?” “Did you understand the math homework?” It barely mattered what the truth was anymore. In asking the question they already had her answer planned out and firmly fixed in their minds. She lifted her heavy head up and took another swallow—this one far more desperate and far less dainty than the last. She held the wine up to the dim flickering candle beside her, the only source of light in the room. A lamp was too risky. If either of her parents saw the light from below the door they would arrive in, when every Erin wanted was to be alone with her memories. ‘I sound like an 80 year old lady. . .’ the thought drifted across her mind slowly like the smoke from a flame. There one minute and gone the next. Erin looked harder into her glass, searching the smallest of oceans for the answer to the largest of questions. The tiny and wavering light made for a beautiful effect between the deep red of the wine and the sparkling of her mom’s finest crystal. A beautiful shimmer. . ethereal sparkle. . .timeless. . beautiful. . . perfect. She could feel her mind drifting, further and further away. Feel her eyes start to close, and her soul start to wander, Erin carelessly released the glass in her hand. The glass fell to the floor and spilled every over her legs, managing to extinguish the tiny tea candle she had lit. With a gasp, Erin jerked back to reality. What had she been doing?! She couldn’t believe her foolishness. As she sat there in the dark, the silence which had seemed so peaceful only moments before now grated against her ears. Every breath of wind was a night terror rising from the depths of her past to arrive up and drown her. Every ticking off a far off clock a hammer falling, sentencing her to an awful fate. Terrified, Erin rose up and fumbled for the switch to her lamp. When at last light flooded the room, Erin paled—horrified at the sight before her. The fine crystal glass lay haphazardly on her pale blue carpeting, the tea candle just scant inches away. Shaking, Erin bent down and ran quivering fingers over her carpet. Completely dry. Not a stain left anywhere. She felt like crying. She was trapped. Her breathing became unsteady as she changed her position to relax her head on her knees. ‘Stupid, stupid, stupid!’ No longer tipsy at every Erin knew without a doubt that she had just made the second biggest mistake of her life. She had spent three years running from those awful, terrible creatures. Three long years spent trying to forget what they had stolen from her. And now in a moment of weakness, of stupidity, of careless irresponsibility—she had begun her nightmare every over again. She had begun to, somehow, slip back into their world. And whats worse, by spilling the wine, she had made them an offering. She looked again at the painfully clean carpeting before her and let a few tears escape. She had made an offering, and they had accepted it.

What is with this idea that a lady's sexual response should be the standard by which a man's should be judged? And what is with the idea that a man's duty should be to delay his possess gratification as long as possible rather than to spontaneously like sex? Do people not realize that penises become erect again with just a bit of attention and encouragement and taking a break to share a bowl of fruit and some sparkling wine is quite nice in the meantime?

Creatures danced manically leaping through the air with their heads raised up to the sky in silent worship. The night air was warm and wet on my skin, laying over me like a heavy blanket. My thoughts were hazy and it hurt to think; hurt to resist. The breeze wrapped itself around me, embracing me . . . strangling me. The dancers themselves were impossibly gruesome. They moved towards me, faces painted in malicious cruelty. icy difficult panic set in as I desperately struggled to breathe, to escape. The world was screaming in my ears, a hot searing knife hacking its way through my mind Erin was up off the floor and on her feet in an instant, eyes flicking across the room searching for anything out of place. A shadow that didn’t belong. A breeze where there shouldn’t be one. The slightest hint of anything that just seemed wrong. But there was nothing. For the moment at least, she was alone. Breathing a sigh of relief, she rested her aching head in her hands. The awful racket that had pulled her from her nightmare was still echoing around in her head. “Erin!” came a yell from down the stairs “Time to receive up baby!” called Lois, Erin’s mom. Glancing at her clock, Erin did a double-take before slamming her hand d

I just opened a bottle of red wine that I had lying around and, much to my surprise, it's sparkling. I was going to drink some tonight and use the relax tomorrow in a pasta sauce. Now (and this might sound a little silly) will the fact that the wine is fizzy have any effect on the sauce? I don't want my dinner to taste fizzy! It is proper wine, not a wine cooler.

have been seeing my pal for a year and a half but we've known each other for two years. She has been flirting with me since the beginning but I can't figure out if there is intention behind it or if she is just playing. I know she likes me a lot. We have these powerful eye contacts pretty often and sometimes I look tears in her eyes when she looks at me. We spent 3 days together in Montana, spending the three nights in the same room (one night in the same queen size bed). I really wanted to spend the night with her and I thought that it was what she wanted to but I was too scared to make any move on her and i could not understand her body language. She walked around in her bra, changed clothes with no inhibition while I was in the shower, I even accidentally saw her naked We heard the Black eyed peas and she started singing pretty noisy "take it off" and "let's do it" and other songs like that with pretty obvious sexual lyrics. there was no way I could figure out if she was just singing or if she had something else in mind. one evening, we went to the bar and she ordered 2 glass of wine and we talked for a while but nothing happened. I brought the topic of the lesbian community and she looked at me in a odd way, suspecting me of something. I felt really uncomfortable and changed the topic on the spot. She presented me to her parents and I could look how excited she was, when i talked to her dad. She had sparkles in her eyes, as she almost always do when she looks at me but this time more than usual. She showed me around where she grew up and presented me to her friends. I told her i loved her on an e-mail which was a bad idea, but I was not able to say it directly. The next time i saw her, she kept looking at me with sparking eyes. So far everything was great but what I don't understand is why i am always the one to ask her out and not her. Sometimes i feel like I am really not her priority but when I go look her she always seems so glad. I don't receive it. Am i important to her or what?

Am i important to her or what?

ok, i'm thinking either chocolate covered strawberries or strawberry crepes for dessert, along with some sparkling wine, but i've no idea what to make for the entree. i want something not too heavy in case we want to receive..... romantic.... later. also, i have a difficult time cooking without tons of garlic, which is very yummy going down, but it makes kissing my partner afterward not so pleasant for either of us..... he's an omnivore, but likes most of my vegan cooking.... any ideas?

I'm making chicken alfredo for dinner, and i was wondering what a good type of champagne or sparkling wine might be with this meal. I'm not big on wine, and i've never actually had champagne. So if you could please give me some advice as to what would be good with this meal, and isn't TOO expensive.

Sparkling Wines are different. I'm talking specifically about White Wines. At the supermarket where I store they have the same White Wine selection and inventory hasn't changed in months, while the Red Wine and Liquors are always changing.... I tried White Wine once, and it was nasty. Do you drink the stuff?

Hello, and glad New Year! Like many people, I am pretty hung over today. When I got up this morning, I would apply my usual "Hangovercure" - Coca Cola. When I drank it I felt the palate of my mouth swelled up, and that the glands located below tongue ached and swelled with them (something I never experienced before) I thought no more about it, but now, when I was drinking another carbonated drink, the exact same thing happened. I assume this problem must be due to carbonation. Could this have to do with that yesterday I drank sparkling wine? Someone who has been through this before?
